Insulation above motor shot

Noticed recently the insulation above the motor has sagged. I started to poke around it and it fell on top of the motor. Nearly all of it  just crumbles or disintegrates to powder when trying to put it back in place. So I pulled it all out and now need something to replace it. Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas on what to replace it with?

Part of mine is looking questionable, so this interests me also.  Below are links to possible products, but I wouldn’t rely strictly on their glue feature, especially in such a hot environment.  Screws with broad washers seem an added security. 

But I read one fellow’s solution was to sharpen the ends of aluminum angle “irons”, jam the points high into the hard-to-reach far wood firewall, and screw the near ends up to ceiling structure.  Several of them across the engine compartment ceiling, plus some extra midway screws, might be a simple support fix without having to replace all the insulation.  Of course that depends on individual material conditions.  If bedroom access allows a decent approach, screws in the forward ends would be perhaps better than sharpened points.

Of course that won’t do for your disintegrated liner now, Fred, but is a support option for new stuff.

I used material similar to what Joel suggested w/o adhesive backing.  A good (e.g. 3M High Strength 90) spray adhesive worked well. I also used aluminum strips on the joints and across long runs. I did the top and front of the compartment and the improvement was quite noticeable.

Stan, see Joel’s two links above.  I ordered the one on the first link from Amazon. I have not gotten it yet but should any day and plan on putting it on next week. We are on a trip now.
