High Low Beam Relay Location
« on: October 26, 2020, 06:26:44 PM »
New to BAC. If I post this wrong please correct me.   :)  My High Beam indicator is on all the time.  I thought maybe the relay is bad and stuck in High.  Have looked all over and cannot seam to locate the Relay.  The only schematic I have found says it is on the CCM board. I believe that is the board in the ben under the driver.  Need help locating.

Doug,

Have you tried resetting the CCM? If not, turn both the chassis and house disconnects off for a few minutes and see if the issue resolves.

There is a wiring diagram in the ‘Coach Assist’ area under Patriot Wiring Diagrams named 2008-2009 Patriot & Marquis (W/Kongsberg) Chassis Wiring Diagrams. The diagrams aren’t great, but they do show layouts for both the front (front run bay) and rear (rear run bay) CCM modules and some of the fuse and relay locations.

Edit:
I shouldn’t have said that the diagrams aren’t great, they are fine. I should have said that there could be more drawings related to the CCM.

I just dealt with this today.
I replaced my headlight housings and labeled all the wires since there were spade connectors On my headlights
I labeled the wires as I took them apart, upon reassembling I transposed a couple wires.
I had them labeled  and still was able to put a couple together wrong
My left headlight was a little dim, and my high beam indicator stayed on.
Well I knew something was wrong, so I pulled the headlight back out and saw that I had put the wires together incorrectly.
I imagine this caused backfeed to my headlight switch also turning on my high beam indicator light.
Anyway I fixed it, plugged them in correctly, my lights are bright, and the indicator light works correctly now.
In your case possibly two wires have rubbed together and created a backfeed as well.
I would check the headlight wiring behind the headlight
I also did the relay fix and now have bright headlights
I don't know if this will help as I believe your coach has the multiplex wiring
If you have the big owners manual it should help you find your relays, most likely in the wiring compartment.
If your coach is like mine there is a schematic drawing inside the door

I did replace the headlight sockets.  They were burned from heat.  Will go back and double check wires.
Thanks

Doug,
Did you ever find the relay(s) you were looking for? I didn't see one in the CCM diagram. What is the title / dwg # of the schematic you are looking at.
Thx, Steve

Steve, no I did not find the relay. That was a guess that there is one. I did remove all power and batteries for an hour, no help.

Doug,
The diagrams are not real clear but here is what I found.
The headlight relays are in the Front Run Box (FRB). (Following refers to Coach Assist wiring diagrams).

In the 2008-2009 Beaver Marquis and Patriot diagrams, sheet 138/178 (#38040026) shows the high and low beam relays on Board 8 in the FRB. That said, sheet 143/178 (#38040159) shows a layout of the FRB but Board 8 does not show any relays, but does show 2 10A circuit breakers (I think) for High & Low beam.  (I just added an index to this file so have updated the sheet #s).

Sheet 143/178 also shows a Board 16 with 4 relays but I can find no board 16 diagram. However, in the 2007 Patriot Thunder diagram set, sheets 94 & 95/194 (#38031327) show a Board 8 identical to Board 16 and indicates that K1 & K2 are the Low & High beam relays. The wire diagram is shown on 102/194 (#38040026).  This appears to be the same as board 16 in the 2008-2009 Diagrams with K1 Low Beams and K2 High Beam.
Hope this helps.
Steve
