hydraulic levelers

hello everyone,   i have an issue , i created a problem for myself. one of my rear levelers fell from a 4x4 base i had set down for them to sit on. when it slipped of the base one of the assist springs unhooked. ah boy!! how does and how do i get that back together !!!

 Mike,
 One way to do it is make the spring grow in length. Purchase some thick flat washers from a hardware store. Place one end of the spring in a vise and rock it back and forth and while bent in one direction, install a washer on the opposite side then the other. With the jack manually retracted all the way, carefully install the spring and then extend carefully. Hope this helps, Fred

ah yes that's  a smart idea fred , that should work . cause those springs are massive and tight i i'll try that will report back how i make out .

  Good luck Mike, It will work cause I have done this. Allow for the location of the flat washers so they don't interfere. Fred

You can get a couple of packs and wedge them in between the spring coils. Once you get the spring reattached, you remove the wedges of course.

The old style wooden clothes pegs work as well you just separate the spring and each clothes peg makes two wedges and the best part is they work dual duty as clothes pegs when your not struggling with a jack spring and can be picked up at the dollars store.
