This problem has been with the Coach since I bought her - but its not been on the top of my to do list since I don't drive in the rain often. On my last trip it rained so this issue has moved back to the top.
Problem: When I'm driving under 40 mph the driver's side wiper arm sweeps normally from its horizontal rest position to the vertical position (90 degree sweep). But when my speed is over 40 mph the wiper blade hits the rubber windshield gasket in the vertical position and that makes a loud annoying slap sound. The wiper arm sweep is more like 95 degrees when driving over 40 mph. This problem is only with the drivers side wiper blade.
Its hard to troubleshoot because it doesn't hit anything when running the wipers with Coach stationary (while spraying water on the windshield). I can't find any slop in the mounting or linkage and the wiper arm is not slipping on the shaft.
It sure seems like something is flexing due to the added "wind force" on the blade when driving 50 mph+ , but
I can't find anything loose or flexing. With the wipers off, there is no flex in the arm/linkage. Maybe previous owner replaced the wiper arms with the wrong part - but then I would expect the blade to hit all the time.
I repositioned the blade a couple of different ways but cant find a spot where it wont hit either the bottom edge of the gasket or the A-pillar side of the windshield gasket.
For now, I'm going to replace the 28" wiper blade with a 26" blade. I think that will "fix" it for now.
Has anyone else had this problem?
