water leak at roof vent

Have an 2007 Contessa and have water leaking from the rear center roof vent surround. Had this once before after a driving rain,inspected all visible caulking in the area and found no cracks so attributed it to the wind driven rain, last night we have rain/snow mix and it,s leaking this morning. Any suggestions? Could the leak originate from the A/C base and migrate that far?

You also can remove the trim piece from the bottom of the vent to check to see if the water is coming from the vent.

We had a front clearance light leak and it ran about 10 feet before it foumd an exit from our ceiling a few years ago so it can go a long way.

There are any number of places that your leak could be originating from. The first place to look is in the area where it is seen inside the coach, but water can run long distances in the roof structure before it actually drips inside the coach.
Be certain to check all seams and reseal any questionable areas with a flow-grade (self leveling) sealant like Dyco C-10 sealant.

You may have to water test the roof one area at a time to locate the leak. As a professional mechanic, I used to use pressurized air inside a car and look for water leaks at seams with soap solution (bubbles), but that method is very difficult if not impossible to use on a coach.

Most RV supply dealers will carry Dyco C-10 or a similar self-leveling sealant. Just make sure that what you use is a self leveling (flow-grade) sealant that will flow into any cracks, adhear very well, not harden,and is compatible with a fiberglass roof.
