TV Lift
« on: March 05, 2022, 12:25:25 PM »
I'm looking for information on the manufacturer of the TV lift in my 2003 Marquis Ruby.  I need a new control box.  Thanks.

There is a section on the TV lift system found in the Coach Assist labeled "2004-05 TV Lift Instructions – Jerry Emert".  Your coach is one year older but likely has the same lift system.

I did a Forum search and Lee Welbanks stated:

"Re: Front overhead TV won't go down

"Your best bet is to give Lift TV a call and speak with on[e] of their tech's 1-877-543-8698, Your manual crank down may be engaged, if it is the unit will not go up and down on electric. You can look up at the left side where the crank end is, if it is pushed in next to the case the unit will not work, get a hook and pull the crank end out."

I did find a company named "LiftTV" by doing a Google search.  LiftTV may be able to help you.

If you search "Monaco TV lift" on youtube there's a video of a guy who replaced the control box with a couple of relays and magnetic switches (to detect open and closed). System looks really similar to what's in my 2005. Maybe an option if you can't repair your existing or find a replacement.

Wish that tech would have listed the parts or better a schematic.

Unfortunately the 2003, mine, did have a different system than the instructions I found for the 2004.  Mine did not have the emergency crank either.  luckily the only thing wrong with mine was me trying to fix something that wasn't really broke.  I unfixed my fix and it worked great again.

I still haven't found a fix for this TV Lift.  The annual in the Assist library is for a 2004 model which is different from this one.

I know this is a big ask, but is there someone with enough electronics knowledge to watch this attached YouTube video and tell me what parts I would nwwd to recreate the alternate system that this guy built?  I tried contacting the guy but didn't get an answer.  He describes what the components are but I have no idea what the values/specs should be.

Many thanks for any help.

MJ,
Attached is a diagram of the circuit described by the uTube guy as best as I could figure. If the motor only has 3 wires they have combined the neutral and ground so just ground it. The motor wire colors are from a motor I found on the web. If yours are different you'll have to check the resistance of each to determine which is which. The up down wires will both have the same amount of resistance. The ground wire will (should) show a short to the motor housing. The neutral should also show the short (if you ID the other 3, the remaining one is neutral).
If your not comfortable with electrical work have a shop do it.

MJ,
I made a couple of errors on the initial diagram.  Attached is an updated one.
-The switch provides 12v, not ground to the relays.
-The wires from the switch to the relays are yellow and brown at the switch but yellow and grey at the box so apparently the brown wire got spiced to a gray one. Suggest you verify with a meter.
