Free Dish Satellite Set Up
« on: April 03, 2022, 02:05:30 AM »
Hi All,

So friends of ours bought a new RV that came with  a Dish satellite set up so they gave us their old set up. The package includes Tailgater Dish, Wally receiver and all wiring. Can I connect the Dish to the external  cable TV  outlet and use existing cable wiring to connect to receiver and receiver to TV? Or do I need to remove the old batwing antenna and use that wiring. Thank you for any thoughts or installation experiences.

Thank you

Jaso. Worman

   Jason,
Your coach came originally with RG-59 coax cable. The cable TV input and the roof antenna are RG-59. The current coax cabling is RG-6. The center conductor on RG-6 is a larger diameter and can transfer more information. If you are going to mount the tailgator on the roof, then run the new RG-6 thru the roof in a predictable location to attach to the Wally receiver. Your other choice is to set it up outside on the ground with an unobstructed view looking south and run the RG-6 thru a window to the reciever. Fred
