Hydraulic Cooler

We recently had a hydraulic leak that resulted in a loss of steering. Ironically I was in route to drop the coach off to have a couple slides serviced. Fortunately I was able to get the rig off the road and had it towed in. They have now diagnosed the issue as a leak from the hydraulic cooler. The leak was coming from somewhere over the rear wheel well. The service center wants almost $4000 to replace it. While I'm limited in my options since the coach cannot be currently driven, I'm curious if anyone has had this issue and what  they were charged. Thanks

I just saw your post about the Hydraulic problem you had/have. I did have a similar situation. 2005 Beaver monterey, Laguna   IV. I had it in the shop to have the engine compressor replaced. It got pretty cold overnight and apparently when they started the engine the next morning to pull it into the shop the hydraulic cooler blew fluid all over the snow on the ground. They took the cooler over to a radiator shop and had it welded. But the pressure in the system is so high that when they started the engine, it just blew the hole again. I found a new cooler online for just over $900 and took it to the shop. They installed it. I then had to go through my manual to find the correct fluid to put in the reservoir. It is NOT transmission fluid. I don't remember exactly what the manual said without looking it up again, but it is not cheap. They charged me just over $1500 to do the work and the cost or the fluid.
I also researched and found the engine compressor, purchased it for $700 and took it to the shop for them to install. All totaled they charged me $5000. I think they may have put a little in there for themselves.

Hi Jim, I don't keep great records, but I did find the receipt for that. I paid $949.00 plus tax and shipping. A place called Equipment & Parts Explorer in Bakersfield, CA. Their number is 844-385-9903
The description for the  cooler was, Monaco Hydraulic Oil Cooler #720002 (RSH- Mon-2-OC, 01807251, E-4745, E4745, E-4778, E4778, S01806992, 10106615), mounts below the  Charge Air Cooler, bypass pipe below the core (d)

I live in Colorado, I bought that cooler in Feb. of 22. It just so happened to be really cold here at that time. The shop told me the reason the cooler blew was of the high pressure in the cooler and it was old and weak. I checked the manual and it said to use a lighter weight type of Hydraulic oil for colder regions. This rig spent most of its life in Florida, so maybe why the heavier fluid. So we put NAPA Hydraulic oil AW22 PT#NHF86-105. At the time it was $120.25 a 5 gal. pail and we bought 3.

Bill, the pump and hydraulic controler and cooler changed for the 2007.  There should be a couple diagrams in the owners manual showing fluid used and the take off for the power steering etc.  the fan controler is also different though I can’t recall the details without the manual to hand.
The resevoir tank has a vent tube which on ours was plugged solid so the tank was over pressured and the system as well I think.  We had our hydraulic pump serviced and new gaskets too. So you might keep an eye on yours for a leak between the two halves at the PTO.
Lastly I believe BCS provided the new oil cooler that had just been replaced when we bought it.
