Towing a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid

(1/1)

Bob Dunlap:
We're selling our toad, a 2014 Ford Fiesta (anyone interested?) and replacing it with a 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid.  I've heard that the Roadmaster base plate and tow bars are the way to go (less cutting out of the front facia.  We have the Duo Stay-N-Play braking system on out Fiesta and love it.  Does anyone have any experience on installing the Stay-N-Play on a Maverick?  Need to know any difficulties in installation and how it works on the Maverick platform.

I also have been looking longingly at the Ford Maverick Hybrid as a toad, so would you keep all of us informed as you make your way through the setup process.

Joel Ashley:
Keep in mind the towable Maverick is front wheel drive only.  Just sayin’ from a guy that travels Western mountain roads, crosses cricks, etc., as needed to access remote fly fishing opportunities.   Wishing the towable Mav was 4X4.  A really well-rated new model, however..

Roadmaster is great, as are their braking products, but with apologies I can’t speak to transferring Demco products between rigs.

I’d contact Demco for more info on a Maverick hybrid installation.

New article related to this topic.  Excuse the annoying ads.

Bob Dunlap:
Richard et al,
We completed a trip from south Texas to Indiana and back with our 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid.  We had the Blue Ox face plate installed which worked well with our Blue Ox tow bar from our previous toad.  We had the Stay-in-play installed as well.  We had no issues whatsoever with the Maverick.  After a few groans with how many steps were involved in getting to "neutral tow" mode, we learned what to do and how to do it and it seems painless now.  I was so impressed with the Maverick, that I let my sister (who is looking for a toad) know how happy we were with it.  They did some research and ordered one from the factory.  With the 2025 Maverick, the hybrid is all-wheel-drive and can still be flat towed.  I don't know if waiting for the 2025 with all-wheel-drive would have been worth it for us but we're very happy with "Rick."
