Alternitive To The Aquahot Controller & Igniter
« on: August 04, 2024, 10:13:45 PM »
About a month ago I posted about Aqua-Hot issues. Well they have been resolved. It seems that a bad motor was a contributing factor with yet another controller. Eric Maclean responded to the post and suggested a few more tests to verify that it was the blower side and not pumps. He understood the costs of what I was looking at and offered me some information he had seen on other forums. The Beckett Conversion. After studying the information I went for it. Motor, controller, igniter bearings and new wiring, all in at under $950.00. in the almost 8years of ownership this unit has never worked so good.
This is not a plug and play there is a level of difficulty, being able to follow schematics and some fabrication is necessary, but patience is key!!!
Disclaimer I am not an AH service tech so I don't know any thing about other units But it does work on the AHE100-02S
I have a Zip with more info file to large, below will give you an idea
Good Luck

Sooooo... who or where can we get this Beckett Conversion done from/between Hermiston, Oregon to Yuma, Arizona, and what does it cost to have it done (by a knowledgeable technician)?

When I purchased the coach, I think it had a black control box.  When our AHE-100-AHE Aquahot was not working reliably at an annual service some eight years ago, a technician replaced it with a silver control box.  About three years ago the Aquahot again was not working reliably at an annual service, so that technician replaced the silver control box with a black one.  I remember paying $600 in addition to the annual service charge, for the black control box about three years ago.  One would think more reliable equipment would be available in this day and age!

David, I think this is a DIY project. I am unaware of any business doing it but I haven’t searched.

David
The original conversion information came from the Fore Travel Forum.
Just search the internet using  ( Aquahot Beckett conversion) and it should take you there.

As most of us know the Aquahot/Webasto parts originate from Germany and therefore are very expensive
This drove people to look for cheaper alternatives. What they came up with was the Beckett 12 volt burner controller/ ignition coil and  /cad cell.
It does require rewiring the burner head but all the parts are compatible and industry tried and true piece'sat a fraction of the price.

Hope this helps
