Bay Door Warning
« on: August 04, 2024, 10:24:36 PM »
Can anyone provide direction as to how best to test the bay door plunger/pin switch that triggers the bay door open warning? The warning was going off intermittently, but is now pretty much non-stop. Fortunately the last segment of our trip was pretty short otherwise may have jumped ship from the non-stop beeping. I've checked all  the connections. During a period when the warning was not doing off, I checked all the switches with my CP watching the dash - all appeared to be working normally. I pulled connections to all the switches and still got the warning. I am at my limit of figuring out what to do next. It does not appear that pulling a fuse and turning off  the system is an option. I should have replacement switches tomorrow, but obviously don't what which switch to replace. With a couple of longer drives coming up this week any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmmm... to the best of my knowledge, our coach has no such animal.  I always double-check the bay doors to be latched closed on both sides before driving.  My advice is to find that beeper and cut its power.  lol

I wish I could figure out how to cut power to it. It s a function that we don't really need, like you I check everything before heading out.

Bill,
The bay door sensors feed into the coach security system and keyless  entry system. See page 102 of the 2008-2009 Patriot, Marquis wiring diagrams as it covers the 07 model year also. It shows a fuse block but pulling a fuse may also disable the keyless system. Connector J5 on the security board contains the pass and dvr side bay door sensor inputs which should silence the alarm if it is disconnected. Alternately you could remove the connections at the alarm buzzer.
If you've disconnected all the bay door sensors at the same time and the alarm still sounds the problem is either in the wiring or the system itself.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of your bay warning system but I believe that the system would use individual switches for each bay door and that those switches would most likely be grounding switches connected to a common wire which would directly or through a relay operate your warning device.

If this is the case simply disconnecting each switch one at a time and tape off the wire should help you identify which switch is causing your intermittent alarm
If you disconnect them all and still have an alarm then the common wire may be shorting to ground somewhere ( chaffed through on a metal edge )
If you want to disable the system you should be able to track down the alarm audibly and disconnect it.

Mystery solved. I did not real that the front run box also had a bay door switch. This was the switch that was causing the warning. Thanks again for everyone's recommendations.
