20' Girard awning support arms?

I have a 20' Girard awning with three support arms. I had to remove the center support arm for repair but do not remember which direction the elbow on the center arm points. Does it point to the front or to the rear of the coach? Picture would be helpful.

On mine the hinge  faces the front.
