Laminate repair
« on: January 10, 2026, 09:52:59 PM »
The laminate in my front firewall by the entry door has start to split and separate. Any suggestion on a shop in the Phoenix/Tuscon area that may be able to resurface this? It's birdseye maple.

Our front panel similarly split and curled, only ours had several horizontal splits across it.  I went to Harbor Freight and purchased several clamps, large and small ones, and went on Amazon to purchase two bottles of 3-hour epoxy, one bottle being the resin and the other being the hardener.  I would mix up small amounts of the epoxy and use a dental-like tool to apply it to the cracks and under the curled up burl layer as far as possible.  Then I covered the glued cracks with wax paper and clamped down the raised burl on each side of the cracks firmly flattened into place.  I did one linear crack at a time, one crack per day.

I also reglued all the cracks in the Mappa Burl on the cabinets and doors throughout the coach.  The one place I didn't get to is the bedroom side of the bathroom-to-bedroom pocket door. Yes, it was a several-week process.
