What are these for?
« on: April 19, 2016, 02:47:21 AM »
While hooking up 12vdc for TPMS today I found these under the dash to the left of the wheel.  Obviously one has something to do with ABS, but what?  The other appears to be some kind of switch, the little rectangular piece on the end pulls out and in.  Thanks

Jerry, the top picture shows the J-1708 6 pin data connector.  location should be the Allison
Transmission data connection. Your engine data connector which is also J-1708 connection
and location is on top of dash and rear of motorhome. Note: if the J-1708 connector is not
located on top of dash, than the picture shows connection is for engine data connection.

Dave, thank you.  What is the push button and ABS switch on that plate for?
Thanks

This has dropped off the radar.  Does anyone know what the little black switch in the second pic is for?  Also what the ABS switch near the data connector is?  Both are under the dash near the outboard wall.  Thank you.

Second picture with the black switch is for the keyless entry system.  I would have to re-read the procedure but it's for resetting your keypad entry code. We also have the abs switch in the same area but have never had to use it.

Jerry, the button along data connector is manual blink button to manual pick up
diagnostic code for engine and switch for ABS. I do have the blink codes if you
would like to have them. The bottom picture switch also should be blink code for
ABS controller of that is a push button on end of switch. Mentor Wabco ABS earlier
had setup like that on trucks. I do have book on earlier Mentor Wabco that gives
ABS blink codes . Dave Atherton Retired Cat Mechanic

Jerry, looking at bottom picture on that switch again does not really stand out as a blink
switch as the top picture because a person would have to use both hands to operate
switch. The ABS controller button is just a push button like on top picture. Thank Jim
for pointing this out, run into problem many times where data connector for engine,
than Allison transmission have same connector side by side under dash that is not marked
And both 6 pin connectors. Dave Atherton Retired Cat Mechanic

Thank you all.  I'm not mechanic enough to be able to use the blink codes Dave but thank you for your offer.
