Rear Engine Door Latches

Hello All

The latches on the rear engine door of our new to us 06 Monterey are some kind of goofy keyed device that has a fixed cam and is not a compression latch like the Southco latches used on our 03 Monterey.  The holes for these latches are the wrong dimension to be able to use either of the standard size Southco latches as replacements.  Has anyone with these latch types come up with a better solution?  These latches do not hold the door securely.

Thanks for your input.

The locks on ours were a bit loose when new, too Brad.  But I just tweaked the latching bar behind the lock with a couple of pliers until it grabbed better.  Just be careful not to overdo it and crack some fiberglass.  The bumper inside was part of the problem also, but it too can be aligned and tweaked until the door is just snugged a bit (doesn't rattle) with the key latch, but not so tight as to cause other problems.
