'03 Marquis, keyless entry
« on: February 19, 2013, 07:22:36 PM »
Just wondering if anyone can tell me, who manufactures the keyless entry system on my 2003 Marquis.  I tried a search for keyless entry and came up with the name Trimarkcorp, went to their website and the keypad looks different than the one I have. Mine has the slanted buttons that are recessed and are touch activated.  I don't have a keyfob for the system and would love to order a couple of new ones, if they are still available.

Steve could be right, Dave.  The Essex he linked to looks the same as on our coach, and on most models and years I've seen.

However, when I had trouble with rain activating the doorside pad, Bend Service Center replaced it under warranty.  My service record says they used a Magnadyne keypad, and if memory serves me right, that is indeed the brand of control module under our dash.  The Essex and the Magnadyne keypads look alike.

Here is a link to the Magnadyne remotes you may want to consider:     http://www.magnadynestore.com/modules/store/Replacement-Remotes_C25993.cfm

But I'd check under the top dash access panel to see if your Marquis has the controller under it like our Monterey.  If it is a Magnadyne, you could jot down some numbers off of it, then call the company for advice on the appropriate keyfobs.  I say that because the ones listed via the above link are similar to ours, but none are exactly ours.  Plus, Magnadyne's website oddly doesn't provide information on the keypad or controller availability itself.

Thanks guys , I looked up that one and the keypad does not look like mine at all, I am going to have a look under the dash for the control box, I had been searching for it in the electrical bay, that's where it was on my 2000

My keyless entry pad has slanted and recessed numbers.  I found some papers in the files for it.  The papers say it's a "KE-1603."  I have headings saying "KE-1603 Code Types", "KE-1603 Code Programming Commands", "KE-1603 User Code Record List" for recording which user codes you have authorized and to whom, "KE-1603 Wiring Diagram", and a "KE-1603 Quick Install Guide".  I also found an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 booklet, stapled at its binding edge, with 8 paqes that goes more in-depth on how it works.

If any of this would be of help, then I can photocopy and email any part you want.  I took a picture on my phone of the keyless entry pad, but have no idea how to get it attached to a post.

That button format belongs to a number of Essex models in the 1600 series, so check here: http://www.keyless.com/KE-1600%20Options.htm

Or if you find the controller and ID it as a 1603 like David's, here are the pertinent documents:

Thanks Joel , just had a read through that, I will give them a call, almost sounds like any generic key fob might work.

talked to essex, the guy said it was more than likely a 1603 , which has been discontinued, so I called beaver in bend and they have a couple of key fobs they can send me, has anyone had to program new key fobs , it seems easy according to the manual, also I was trying to find the controller for the system with no luck, looked in the passenger side control console, under the dash access, under the dash itself , drivers side control console, front electrical bay, and behind the wood panel as you come up the entry stairs.
Any suggestions?

If access is possible anywhere, perhaps you can locate and follow the orange and white wires that come out of the keypad.  According to the wiring diagram, those two wires go to the key fob receiver;  as far as I can tell, that is essentially the "control module" for the 1603 system.  If its like ours, it is maybe 3" X 4" X 1" or so, and black plastic.  Techs at Bend might know where it is on your model coach.

When I purchased my 2005 Monterey the keypad was defective and one of the key fobs was missing.  I contacted Essex, 805-684-7601,  and they would sell me a fob , RE-1704-KF, for $42 but not the keypad.  They directed me to
a1 Electric 888-838-0506 to order the keypad.  I ordered the pad, KE1701RHC, for $179.  There was a minor wiring difference which was easy to correct.  I finally located the receiver under a removable panel (velcro) on top of the dash directly in front of the steering wheel.  I carefully followed the instructions to llink the new fob to the receiver but to no avail.  Essex had me send the receiver and the fob back and did the programing.  This was a year and a half ago and all work as intended.  If I were going to buy new fobs from Essex i would send them my receiver so they could program them and then send me the fobs and receiver

I have had issues since I bought my 07 with the keypad and the remote.  Since I also have a security system which is all connected and it kept activating the alarm almost every time we went in and out.  Finally went in and took the power wires off the keypad but surprisingly the fob still works and so does the rest of the alarm system.  When getting the coach serviced in January I decided to add a fob and replace the keypad but was told the fob's were no longer available and that I would have to change the security system board to match the new Fob.  After looking at the cost for all of that I decided to stick to the old fashion method of a key.  Good luck.
