Maint.Schedule

Has anyone developed a maint. schedule that includes pretty much everything required in the owners manuals?  My extended warranty requires me to have all scheduled maintenance performed to maintain coverage.  I don't want to give them a chance to not pay for something.  I understand that it may be slightly different for every model and year but something to get me started would be great.  I have searched the archives with negative results.  Thanks in advance.

There are several applications that track your maintenance.  Problem seems to be that they are orphaned software in quick succession.  We use 'Word" and a month to month data entry.  Each month starts with the mileage and hrs for genset, then as maintenance is done it is listed with key words in bold so they are easy to find.  This is fairly low tech but its also free (because I had it already) and updated software.

Your question brings up a lot of issues regarding motorhome maintenance.  I think the best reference is the owners manual(s). This, as most will attest, can be very frustrating and downright ridiculous to track. If you are trying to keep everything maintained as per the manufacturer's recommendation. you will go nuts and/or broke.  Each coach is going to be a little different depending on the brands of stuff, engine type and so on... Therefore, your maintenance list is going to be different then mine.

First, you need to address which maintenance items you are going to do and which you will have someone else do.  Second, use a spreadsheet program like Excel and setup each item that you are doing and then one for each other outside service is going to do for you.  Track the time requirements and record each item on that spreadsheet.  File the completed spreadsheet with all the related receipts/invoices/work orders. This will help you anytime you must file a claim with the extended warranty people.  However, they will always question a claim based on proper maintenance.  

Case in point, is the hydraulic reservoir system (levelers and slides, not power steering/cooling) on our coaches.  Most of us agree that nothing is required for renew/replacing on any regular basis.  However, the extended warranty people will ask and may refuse to pay your claim if you cannot prove that system was not maintained properly.

In answer to your question, Jerry, the answer is probably no.  As you can see, many people track their own maintenance procedures and costs, but given that coaches come in different manufacturing years, different models with different options, etc., I doubt a generic maintenance schedule to fit all coaches would be available.

Unlike the cars I've owned there was no master maintenance schedule.  The engine has one, the transmission, has one, the HydroHot has one, etc.  Even the refrigerator has one.   At first, 10 years ago, it overwhelmed me.    

So, I started an Excel Spread sheet.  It remains a work in progress as I've gradually learned to do more of my own maintenance.  I don't have an extended warranty anymore, so that is not an issue for me.

The first four columns were put together from the various documents.  I cleaned them up a little to see if I could get them to cut and paste here.   Columns to the right were, and are, added for each cycle with random notes, including who did it and what it cost.  I didn't try to cut and paste those to this page.  The first few years are much more detailed than the last.  

(The cut and paste method screws up the spacing in the columns here.  It looks better in the actual spreadsheet.)

I don't intend for this to be more than a suggested starting point.
