RV storage in Palm Springs area?
« on: July 24, 2014, 05:42:47 AM »
Hi Folks, Cindy and I are hoping to be able to take a few months off work to travel in the US Southwest in January through March 2015 but we would like to move our coach down to the Palm Springs/ San Diego/ Yuma area in early October in advance of the winter weather through the mountains so are wondering about finding some secure storage where we can park the "LVNG RM"  from October through December  without breaking the bank. We would plan to drive back south in the SUV in early January to hook up and hit the road. I would prefer covered storage if reasonable in cost but outdoors is OK if the location is secure. Do any of you have any suggestions of places that may be suitable? Or maybe places to avoid? Thanks for any input.

Dwight, I have no qualms about recommending Spikes Old 66 RV and Boat Storage just off I-40 and West of a Needles CA. I stored my Triple E there when I was returning with my Beaver. The compound is very tidy, very secure with a resident manager and resonibly priced. My rig got a little toasted being there from late spring until mid summer but you should not have that problem in the autumn. They also have indoor storage as you will see on their website:

I like your idea of avoiding winter driving in the RV by taking it down early. If I don't meet you in Calgary I look forward to perhaps having our trails cross in the South-West. Give me a call if you wish additional information...

Until then, regards
Bob

Dwight, if you are still looking for storage, try Cathedral Village 32500 Date Palm Drive Cathedral City, CA 92234.
Website http://cathedralstorage.com/.    Very secure, great staff, and highly recommended.

I have looked at a few RVs for sale that were stored in Indio just a bit outside Palm Springs central. Indio is about a half hour east I believe.

Here is a link to my search for RV Storage there. Many have covered outside storage for keeping your RV from baking in the open sun and would probably be more reasonable than Palm Springs central.
