« on: August 25, 2014, 11:58:51 PM »
Trying to determine what AC Compressor goes on the 2003 Contessa. The clutch is bad and tries to engage. But only turns compressor very slow and get very hot. Just looking to replace unit. Label says TAMA MFG and some other numbers that will not cross to anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jim,

Most truck dealers can identify the compressor and get you a replacement.  Either stop by one or take front side and rear picttures of the compressor.

Jim,
Most large Napa Auto Parts stores will be able to match the compressor. Sometimes it takes a day or so to order the right one, but it is usually no problem buying a replacement.

One word of caution though, be sure to check that the compressor clutch is getting 12 volts and that it has a good ground. Low voltage to the clutch wiring or a poor ground will give you the same symptoms. So if you have either one of these conditions, a new compressor will not solve your problems.
