I have a 2002 Patriot and the backup camera quit working. I replaced the Alpine unit last winter. There is power at the switch but no power at the camera. Has anyone had a like problem??

I haven't run into the issue yet myself, but recall threads here regarding it.  You might check the connections at the camera for a start.  There should be an access panel on the wall in back of your wardrobe closet.  That's assuming you haven't already done that though you know there's no power at the camera perhaps by another means.  After that someone else here familiar with your model may direct you to any fuse locations, etc.

Thanks for the reply Joel. I have already checked the supply at the camera.

Sid,

There is a separate power switch on the dash for the rear camera.  Is that switch on, if so, does it have power?

My Aladdin schematic shows the controller (aka VCM) has a 12 pin port for camera wiring, and 4 of them are marked "Fused camera power 0.5A ea".  But I don't know where the fuse in question is.  One would expect it either near the camera or the VCM module.

Sid,

Have you checked the fuse in the electrical bay?  Can you get 12v back to the camera and see if it will work?

Karl,
I can't find a fuse in the electrical bay marked camera. I have power at the dash switch but not back at the camera. Only thing I can think of is that there is a break in the wire somewhere.

Sid,

I assume you have the access panel off in the back and can get to the 12v wires leading to the camera.  If so, just run a jumper from the nearest 12v light and see if you get a picture in your monitor.

Sid,
Some of the SMC era coaches had 120 volt back-up cameras. Therefore, they have an on/off switch plus a momentary switch to engage a latching relay to power the camera, but the inverter must be on for the camera to operate.
