MCD Shades

I have the 06 thunder and have been thinking about doing the MCD shades for a few year, turns out this is the year. I have set up a time with Joy at MCD and will take some photos of the "after", you all know what the "before" looks like.
Sounds like a $2000. deal for the front and sides.

I think you will like them.  I did three blackout shades in the bedroom myself, took about 30 minutes mine were easy.  I would not do motorized ones myself.

Good for you.  We enjoy ours very much.  One thing to think of is to make sure the electric switches which now operate your sun shades are not cut out when the key is turned on.  You want to be able to adjust both the day and the night shade while driving.  The driver's side shade will probably have to be on a remote control.  We also needed some shade support when the shades went down because of the hump for the driver's side instrument panel.  Good luck and happy installation.  We not only enjoy the front and the side shades but Vicki is mad that we didn't do it for the whole coach a lot sooner.

Jerry,  your going to love them.   on our last coach we replaced all of them except the front. on this 06 thunder I replaced all of them again except the front. but after looking at the front project i'm going to do them also. your current switches for your sunshades work fine for the front as they are powered up all the time. one more thing to think about is powering your sunshade on your drivers window.  its really convenient to be able to adjust it on the fly rather than reaching up to grab it.  Good luck!

Jerry, I take it they made a cover for the A pillar for the front shade to glide on?

Jim this was not needed they did cut back the front edge about 1/2" to allow the front shade to glide on the face of each panel

I also am thinking about front MCD shades.  Did you use two shades and how did thy handle the removal and installation regarded the recessed boxes for the old ones? Did you use two or three on the front?

We were actually talking with Jim Sizemore about shades for our 2000 PT and than we bought the Marquis which had already been converted on most window...the ones with the previous powered roman shade.  However the fronts are still the original powered units.

We will keep our curtain for the time being since I don't mind the manual on the drivers side.

Dick I think you can get the mcd product from RV outfitter located in Bend, I think they will do just as well on the install as the folks in McKinney. I decided to use the factory because it was on the way to a rally. Actually the install is very simple on our 06 model. I actually removed all of the old and did the switch wire set up myself to keep the cost down.  
If I was doing it over I would have just placed the order and would have done the total install myself.

I have been considering them also, usually after being in fhe coach for a while. As I assume your coach front windows are essentially the same as mine when you say by cutting back 1/2 inch, do you mean the shade so it stays bhind the pillar? Just wondering how it handles the curve. So is one of the power visor switches used for daytime and the other for night shade?

Did you have get the driver window in power and if so how was it powered? What did you use on the door?

Looks like a nice install.
