Replacing Dash Warning Lights
« on: February 04, 2015, 02:10:49 PM »
Can anyone give me an idea of where to start looking for replacement bulbs for the dash warning lights in a 1992 Marquis.  The bulbs have two pins and a plastic body.  I have noticed that on several of these bulbs the plastic has become brittle with age and the clips that are supposed to hold them in place break with the slightest movement.

JC,
Can't be sure but I'd bet they are type 74 bulbs, same as used on later year models. http://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-Long-Life-Miniature-Bulb/dp/B00318V1BU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423067019&sr=8-1&keywords=type+74+bulb

I went through a "learning curve with mine and ended up with LEDs. See http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,2281.msg16783.html#msg16783 for my rational and part # suggestions.

Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion but the lights I am looking for are apparently made by SOLICO (Sorenson Lighted Controls, Inc.).  These are rectangular lights which mount in the center dash panel and are either amber or red.  They are roughly 7/8" wide and 5/16" high.  Looking at the Beaver Service Manual they are labeled BIC Amber 2112-84 and BIC Red 2111-84.  These are two piece warning lights with the cover and light bulb (2 wire tabs).

Finally found the information on the dash indicator lights.  The original manufacturer is SOLICo (Sorenson Lighted Controls), Hartford, CT.  Although they have changed slightly over the years their Series 32 rectangular warning lights look like they will work with only a slight modification to the dash panel openings.  These bulbs are still in limited production and I was lucky enough to find a distributer with enough in stock to meet my needs.  Unfortunately if they are out of stock you have to order a minimum of 25 each for them to do a production run and also wait 12 to 14 weeks for delivery.  Hopefully I will receive my order in three or four days and will test to make sure everything fits/works.  Fingers and toes crossed!

NW RV Supply in Oregon had replacement indicator lights for me when I needed them for my 95 Beaver 2 to 3 years ago.  I would give them a try to see if any left.
