I have been trying to get my windshield fitted with a new gasket but they cannot get the windshield to seat in the cap properly. Has anyone had this problem?

Rick,
I had both sections and gaskets replaced earlier this month with no problems. If you are working with the windshield that was in the coach and only  replacing the gasket, logic would say the new gasket is at fault but I'm sure they've already checked that. Have they cleaned out any/all the urethane/silicone that was used to seal the original gasket?

My experience with  non Beaver coach was similar and our last Beaver had problems too though not as severe.  The explanation I got was that the supports in the roof part of the nose cap can lose some of its spot welds and begin to sag slightly so distorting the windshield openings.  This can be rectified by shoring the roof between the captains chairs until the windshields are in place.  Seems about 1/8 inch or so of sag can cause this.
Another common problem is caused by the coach not sitting flat and plumb when the windshields are removed.
hope this helps

Sorry it's been a bit since I touched a Beaver windshield. 2004 was an H-gasket. Many of the openings were cut to big. The gasket was not glued to the cap but were glued to the windshield. As most all old time Beaver owners know there is lot of flex in the front end of the coaches. I always advised to urethane the gasket to coach and let the windshield float in the gasket.  I believe in 2005 there was a gasket change. In which the gasket was glued to the cap and windshield.
I have set thousands of beaver windshields between the years of 1987 and 2006. Call coach glass in Eugene Oregon they should be able to help you out also.

Problem solved. We had to modify the top window cap a little and it went right in.
