route info requested-Oregon
« on: April 13, 2015, 01:22:48 AM »
Has anyone used the 140 to Grants Pass from K FALLS. We plan to head to Grants Pass from Alturas, via 139/39 to K Falls then use 140 to Grants Pass has anyone used this route?
We plan to make lunch at the Powder Horn then head up to Eugene for a stop at NW RV Supply  ( need to pick up some replacements Aladdin Toggles)

Jerry, may I suggest that you look at your route very carefuly?  A friend showed me a state highway in south Oregon where is one of the steepest grades in the country.  The tone of his voice while talking about it was more telling than the story.  As I write this I am trying to remember all he told me.  I just remember that I thought boy if we ever go through that area I am going to check it really well first.
Safe trip!
Keith

Keith, I think he (the guy who told you the story) may be talking about the road from Grants Pass to Gold Beach.

Jerry we are predicting a heavy snow today and the highway from K Falls to Grants Pass is a very high pass. Not a good Idea. I would go back to I-5 near Weed and come north over Mt Ashland If you have to go to K Falls I would go north and take Hwy 58 to Eugene. Or wait a couple days weather is supposed to get warm this week. I would check Trip check or google Oregon Traffic Cams.

Hi Gary, thanks for the heads up. We did get over the pass OK no weather on the drive. I pulled into Seven Feather just before the weather change! I am glad we missed this stuff in the pass.

During the good times I think the 140 route is very good, I had been having a problem with over heating on the C13 but I was  able to get over the 140 pass with no problems.
