2002 Monterey Seacliff 36, 350 Cummins-have questions
« on: May 01, 2015, 07:02:41 AM »
I just purchased a very nice 2002 Monterey, Seacliff 36, 350 Cummins.
I am on the steep end of the learning curve regarding the chassis.
The Legacy link on the manufacture's website has an owners manual for the chassis with the Cat engine.
My chassis has a Roadmaster data plate on the very front of the chassis on the driver's side.
I know this year coach is at the transition to Monaco.
I don't know exactly what I have for chassis.

If anyone has an idea of exactly what this chassis is and if there is a manual available for it, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert Paisley

Check the page linked below in Connie's brochures, Robert.  You have the Roadmaster Magnum chassis.  Your Cummins was an option.  The 350 engine is common enough that you should have little trouble finding a manual for it;  perhaps one for 2002 can be supplied by Cummins.  A "manual" specific to the chassis with that option may not be available.

Thanks for the responses,
Is the Roadmaster Magnum chassis a continuation of the SMC Magnum chassis or is it something different?
Just to clarify, the Cummins engine option is in the same chassis as the Cat engine?

Thanks,
Robert

From what i've been able to detemine...at least with our 2002 Marguis, the chassis still a magnum that was re-designated as a Road master "M" series with the "M" standing for Magnum.  Later they did use the "R" series Road Master Chassis.

I have any info. Pertaining your Cummins 350 through Cummins Insite. Only question this engine
could be a ISC or ISL that is configured other than 400 H.P. What I can say that the CAPS fuel
injection will cause problems with ISC engines and the variable turbo and actuator on the ISL engines.
Both of these engines have few problems. Fuel system fuel filters are 10 micron different than the
Electronic Cat engines that require a 2 micron filter on the secondary filter to engine. Back to the ISC engine there is a Surge, Suppressor on the CAP Fuel system that fails and causes low power and
will provide a Fault Code of 539.   Dave Atherton

I definitely have a 350 CAPS ISC. The coach didn't come with a boost gauge, but I am almost done installing one.
I am curious to find out what the operating boost is now. I had the 5.9 in my Safari turned up to 32 lbs max boost.
That made the coach work pretty well.

I have also added an airbag dump valve system. This coach didn't have that either. I have only had this Beaver for 1 week.
It's amazing how much I have learned in that time!

On my Cummins 350, the maximum boost that I have been able to get is 23.3 according to the Aladdin.  This seems to be enough to get me where I am going.
