2002 Monterey, plastic cargo door catches
« on: May 21, 2015, 11:48:04 PM »
We love our 2002 Monterey.
However there is one little thing that I was hoping to be rid of when I sold my 1995 Safari motorhome.
Unfortunately, the Monterey has the same cheap plastic cargo door catches that never seem to work correctly.
You can push and pull on the door when you close it and carefully release the latch handle after closing the door etc.
And they sort of work.
But there has to be a better way to do this.

Does anyone know of an upgrade to these plastic catches that would make cargo door usage a little easier?

Thanks!

I didn't know the post 2000 Beavers had plastic compartment latches.

Are they the push button style? Do you have a photo?

Our 2003 Marquis has plastic catches too. Having the same issue...  they work ok but they could be a lot better.

Spraying the catches with a silicone spray helps.

I had the same issue with our 2000 PT and found a source....cheap enough where I bought some spares.  Good thing since the 2002 Marquis used the same latch.  I'll try and find the info.

While they do break, they also last a long time so I'm not very concerned about finding something better, just keep a couple of spares.

The latches are made by Tri Mark.
Here is their page with related products:

They do have steel latches.
I might get a couple and see if they work better,
