Dash Air blower motor resistor location / 2004 Monterey
« on: June 03, 2015, 06:15:05 PM »
My dash air fan works on position 1, 2 and 4 but not 3. Jeff at Bend RV told me it is most likely the blower motor resistor but I am unable to find the location.
Does anyone know the location of the blower motor resistors on a 2004 Monterey/Laguna.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Darrell,

Mine is a rather large affair down by the bumper on the driver side on the outside of the coach. Looks like it has some open coils of resistive wire. It sheds heat with resistive voltage drop to lower the fan speed so it is likely somewhere outside where there is some air flow.

Darrell,
Mine are located under the front cap on the driver's side. They are mounted on a vertical brace just inboard of the electrical bay and have a metal "cage" around them. Mine were Ford truck vintage. If you can read the part number check the web. NAPA couldn't match it so I ordered from BCS. Web prices were a bit less, but not much.

Darrell,
On some coaches, the resistor is located in the A/C plenum so the air flow from the blower can cool the coils. If so it is easily removed with two screws. The only problem is getting to it's location high under the front cap.

Thank you for your replies. My location was similar to Steve's. Turned out to be a bad connector and not a bad resistor.
Easily repaired with new Ford connector.
Thanks again.
