Aqua hot on ele, no hot water
« on: July 05, 2015, 06:59:55 PM »
I seem to have a problem with the Aqua Hot in our 06 PT, while on electric only am not getting hot water.
The unit is working on diesel OK.

I guess it may be a electric supply issue but I don't find the breaker. The other item would be a failure of the electrical heating element in the unit.

How would I check the element and is this something that can be changed?

When that happened on mine, the problem was one of the aquastate..not sure which one but easy to check with a voltmeter.

Just a suggestion:  Lloyd De Gerald is a Webasto Aqua-Hot Rep, and can provide you with any part you need at a reasonable cost.
He can probably address your problem accurately.  He serviced our unit at Quartzsite and carries a full complement of parts.  501-258-8426  lloyd.degerald@gmail.com OR

Jerry, isn't the 20 amp hydronic breaker marked "Heater" a position or two to the right of your AC breakers, and just left of the fridge breaker on your 50 amp Main?

Jerry,

I now have a flawless Suburban.  But I can maybe help.  We will be back on Tuesday.

I've done the trouble shooting and replacement for both the element and limit thermostat.  Roger Burke taught me where to poke the voltmeter probes to do the testing.  I have the tool for the element replacement and don't need it anymore.  I will "gift" it to you!

Tacos or Pho this time?

Bill

PS:  A neighbor here at Pacific Shores suggested I got the Beaver too wet, it shrunk and now looks more like a Squirrel.

Jerry and I are finding some good lunch spots in Federal Way near his garage.  Can you get that far north on the scooter?

We will be returning from Newport today.  It will be Wednesday before I can be there with my voltmeter.

Thanks for the help Bill, with your help we did the trouble shooting and found the problem was the AC over heat switch. I did order a new one from Aqua Hot $42.00 plus frt.

When we pulled the cover off to expose the upper(Diesel) and lower(A/C) switch the pop out indicator also known as the reset had popped out and fell off. This was a good indicator of over heat. Bill cut the 2 wires then joined them and the system did work.
FYI...  This is just a test don't run the Aqua hot with this type of bypass. The test did show the switch to be a problem.

Thanks again everyone, and thanks to Orman for giving us some trouble shooting ideas  I will replace the switch next week and let you all know how the unit runs.
