New (to us) MH-Engine info needed and fuel tank size
« on: August 30, 2015, 07:50:41 PM »
Hi everyone! We just bought a (new to us) 2005 Beaver Patriot Thunder Lexington 40' w/tag axle.
Has a Cat C-13 525 hp engine (serial#KCB 21431). We're on the Oregon coast on our shake down cruise. We have 25+ years camping in travel trailers and 5th wheels, this is our first Class A. So far we're lovin' it! Lots of great info on this group and we look forward to meeting you somewhere during our travels.
Thanks
Kathi, Bill and Zorro

Welcome to the family! We too own a 2005 Thunder but ours is the Wilmington floor plan. We bought ours in 2009 and still love it! Enjoy yours also! :)

Welcome the herd, and yes Dave can get you the original sheet on your motor. I've given ours a good quality work out this year going up the coast and across Hwy 1 in BC and Alberta, those folks build some damn steep roads 8% plus is normal up there. This C13 never skipped a beat and pulls like a mad bull.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. We're in Langolis, north of Port Orford today, and bound for Bandon-by-the-sea tomorrow. We're going north in order to go south (ask the co-pilot!) Glad to hear the C-13 is still pulling strong. I'd love to see BC and especially Vancouver Island. Dave, thanks in advance for the engine info!

One question for all of you with 40' Patriots; how much fuel can you get in your two tanks? As I understand it, fuel cap is 150 gal, but when I fuel up, I can only add 70 gal before the nozzle shuts off (that was with 1/4 tank showing before fueling).  Close enough?
thanks again to all....

                        Welcome Bill,

Hope you are enjoying your new ride. To answer your question, 1-tank with 2 fills, one on each side. I believe the capacity is 148- 150 gallons. You have questions, the guys on this forum are beyond passionate and are happy to assist you.
           Enjoy and regards, Fred

Bill,
The fuel gauges on my Beavers were "calibrated" so at 1/4 the tank still held between a 1/4 & 1/2 a tank of fuel (closer to 1/2). Apparent reason is that your generator will shut off due to lack of fuel when the tank is about 1/4 full so they calibrated the gauge to read empty when there was about a 1/4 tank left. At least that's been my experience on an 00 Marquis and 01 Contessa.
