Is DOT code of Feb. 2015 too old?
« on: September 16, 2015, 03:53:25 AM »
Hello again friends! I called today to make sure the Michelin Tire dealer had 8 - 295/80R/22.5 tires in stock and he did. When I asked the DOT manufacture date he stated they were February 2015. That's about 7 months old. Would you be fine with those or would you request a new order? When you're spending this kind of money I would prefer to get them as new as possible. I don't know if I am expecting to much by wanting less than 7 months off the shelf.
Thanks my friends!

Larry,

In the scheme of things that is not too bad. I think these tires are made in Germany, my last Michelins were and you have to ship them by boat, then distribute them across the US to warehouses, then dealers . I think my Toyos made in Japan were about 6 months old. Hard to do much better without getting lucky.

I stopped buying Michelin Tires because the dealers I went to said that Michelin would only guarantee that they were 3 years old or less and I would have to take where ever they were when shipped.  Last year (2014) in July I bought six new Firestones and they all had the dot code of 14/14.  I have no complaints on these tires.  They ride great and all six mounted and balanced came to $2344 out the door.
