Just as a follow up on this topic. I had a conversation with Mobil Industrial Lubricants to better define "NGLI #2" chassis lubricant  as referenced in this Document. It seems that the NLGI designation is a descriptor of weight or thickness of the grease and not what it is formulated to do. I was heading off into the synthetic grease at the local auto parts store world when they redirected to Delvac Xtreme Grease. They indicated that the "Auto" Synthetics would not stand up to the coach driveline demands. Their truck synthetics use a lighter base oil than the Delvac Exteme has more " staying power and better metal to metal protection because of its thicker base oil. Also the synthetics have lower operating temperatures but the Delvac extreme has a 25C higher maximum operating temp. Apparently the CL and CL-4 designations in my Beaver operators guide are NOT industry standard designations so no help there.
I found it interesting that the Mobil tech guys were directing me to their lower cost product as a better solution.... and it seems that it is.  What do I know? I have some on order and will let you know if the drive shaft drops out. I have attached the tech sheet for the product and invite any input.

Best

The universals in our driveline are Dana Spicer. They recommend Chevron Ultra-Duty EP2. I use this grease and it is quite tacky and stays in the bearings well. It is recommended as a very high load tolerant grease.
