VHS11 Diagnostic Code
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:51:24 PM »
I have 1999 Patriot 40 with  330 cat, When I push info on the VHS11 I get fault code, 64 11 no pattern on sensor 2, when I push history the code comes up as, 64 43. I have no flash codes coming up from engine ECM. This code register when ever key is turned on, every thing seems to be running ok. Any one knowing what code 64 11 and 64 43 and sensor 2 are would help a lot or where to find codes for the VHS11 not in owner's manual. THANK YOU

I think you mean VMS II.  If so call Silverleaf electronics and they can help you.

I have 1999 Contessa 330 Cat, having a similar problem. Some time back I printed a code chart from cat,the following was listed:-
64 11  No pattern on speed sensor No 2, on my cat I have  190 11  No pattern on speed sensor No 1.
Have run over 250 hours since first occurrence it pops up then when I press info it says no fault? It is a intermittent problem cat wants $800+ to replace the two sensors.
Any cat repair facility can run you a engine report at your next oil change and it will give you how many times it has happened.

I found that code 64-11 is no pattern on speed sensor no. 2, there are two speed sensors sold as a set. I have replaced the sensors, not a nice job you have to remove p/s pump and air compresor.  Sensors are located behind the compressor.I read that everything will work ok but it will take  a few more revolutions then normal to  start the engine. Which mine was doing, it use to take about one revolution to start, then I noticed it took about 3 or 4 revolulions to start.

After the sensor replacement did the codes stop? I have trouble starting at high altitudes 5000ft+ could be the problem, maybe I should replace the sensors.

I have replaced sensors and the code has clear it self.  I tried to check it by just turning on the key with out starting it, before I reassembled everything, but you have to reassemble everything and start it, to clear the code.

From what I read, the sensor is a coil.   I have a problem with the sensor being intermittent.  It should be open circuit and have a continuous fault.  The only problem is, the connection to the sensor, that could be a problem.  How is the sensor connected to the cable to the computer. You did a great job, I don't think I will attempt it, so it will cost me big bucks!!
