Our Amber step light does not work. Checked wiring, it is connected to a black wire coming from the sealed step control module, but is not getting voltage. What activates this light? Is there a switch on the step? Porch, handle & well lights all function. Thanx

On mine the light under the step only comes on when the porch light is not on.  I'm not sure if wired correctly or not.  With porch light on the light under the step never comes on.  Hope this helps.

Thanx for the input. Found that the light will work when the step switch is on, but the step then retracts when shutting the door. Not sure why it is wired that way, but at least we got the light to work. Thanx

You wouldn't need the courtesy light to stay on with the step retracted anyway, and it could otherwise run down batteries unnecessarily - so it's designed for the lamp to go out with the auto-retract/extend switch on and door closed.
