Dometic Refrigerator
« on: March 22, 2017, 12:01:31 AM »
We have a dometic NDA 1402 refrigerator after using for 6 weeks the error light came on err 02 (freezer fan) after having a retired RV tech. indicated fans and parts. Approximately $ 700. in parts, 3 weeks out.  Some thoughts as to options.  Would prefer not to replace with residential type unit.

Dale,

IMHO, you have limited choices; pay the tech the $700 for the repair or  do the repair yourself. The fan is $69 on Amazon, assuming it is the right part #. https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-Freezer-Part-Number-3850486022/dp/B01BUOI5AG
If the fan is the problem, it's right behind the fan cover inside the freezer and should be easy to  replace. See items 75 and 76 on page 7 on the parts list document. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjQqL3fgenSAhVDxWMKHWluATcQFgg0MAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2F67.238.126.140%2Fpdf%2F3309892.002.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEYZ1vAPxDMvuf0mKq9mL5oHar6Yw&sig2=dx7OPvokc0s0AwRqFik53g

Dale, I spent some time with the customer support for Dometic while at the FMCA Chandler rally.  Even did an interview with her.  They are on a big image push right now.   Might be that if you called Dometic you would get some direct action.  Or they could say no but it cant hurt to ask!

Best...Keith

Thank you folks:  Dometic was not too hopeful, would rather sell a new refrigerator  $$$, took the old fan  out, match it with what Steve had found, and ordered, be here Wed . Thank you everybody. Dale

I've had good interfaces with Dometic, so am surprised by yours.  But the fan should be no big deal to replace avoiding exorbitant tech costs.  The issue concerns me, though, that there's no guarantee the fault code was due necessarily to that part, unless the tech and/or Dometic led you to some certainty of it.

Dometic parts were either obsolete or not available, After 20 minutes the parts gentleman was able to give me a parts # for a replacement unit od same size.  I was working off the code of the refrigerator E02.  The freezer fan was barely turning after we defrosted unit for two days. The refrigerator side is just noisy, so will replace it also. Thanks to Steve was able to fine parts.
