1998 Marquis Diamante, I have a couple of large solar panels on the roof, then one smaller one, about 12 inches square.  What  the heck is that one  (smaller one) for?  It has significant hail damage and needs to be replaced!!

I was under the impression that smaller panel was for the chassis battery.  Not sure where I heard that though.  Could be wrong.

Best you talk to someone who knows more about solar panels than me but I've been told that if panels of differing wattage output are connected together (and you don't indicate that yours are) the panel with the least output substantially reduces the potential output of the other, larger panels.

I like the suggestion that it maybe separate from the others and used only powering something such as a supplementary refrigerator fan.

The small panel is for the chassis battery and doesn't go thru the regulator.
