Kewee Steps Not Working
« on: July 30, 2017, 02:25:58 AM »
2008 Patriot and steps have stopped working properly.  Steps will retract when pushed and will extend when prompted, however when I push them in, they will not stay in.  I have lubed everything but no improvement.  Not sure how to test the various connections.  What is suppose to hold the steps in, the magnet or is it the motor.  How do I test the door sensors and how do I know what sensor to test.  I am on the Maritime rally and not a lot of options for service assistance up here.  Any help in how to diagnose the problem would be appreciated.  My options right now is to tie the steps closed while traveling.

Norm, our 07 Contessa has an SCS coach step owned now by Lippert which also owns Kwickee steps. After doing all the trouble shooting and replacing the motor and control board discovered that the fan gear was partially frozen. You have to remove the steps to remove the fan gear if this might be your problem as your steps seem to react as ours did. Lippert tech support # is 866-524-7821.
