1997 Beaver engine overheating
« on: August 29, 2017, 04:04:44 AM »
My patriot 3126 engine temperature reaches 210 to 212 on a long pull despite selecting lower gears. Have tested the fan speed, replaced the radiator, thermostat, and wax valve for the fan. The engine will pull a higher gear, but  then it heats up.   Are these normal temperatures for this engine?  Do other 3126 engines have similar issues?  Any help is appreciated. Robert, information the opening for thermostat on 3126 engine 191 DEG F. Full opening for
thermostat 208 DEG F., you do not have a heating problem under load and engine heat gauge
Could be a little off in reading. Check your little hose coming off radiator cap and see if it is
Wet on bottom and up on outside of overflow about inch. That would tell you if heating problem
But do not think you will find this. I put on Ask Dave about heating and driving caterpillar
Heui injection systems and correct engine rpms etc. Dave Atherton Retired Cat Mechanic
