Storage Door Struts

This is my first Post on the BAC site so I'm happy to be a part of the BAC family.  I bought the coach from the original owner and each of my basement storage doors has a mixture of struts e.g. a 5300-40 might be paired with a 5300-70.  Is there a recommended spec for each door depending on the size of the door?  Hopefully my signature block automatically shows up!

I think the large doors used 70 or 80 lb struts and the smaller ones used 40s on my 00 Marquis.

I don't know the proper rating but 70-80 sounds good. I have mixed old ones and new ones and overly strong ones and they work. I bought from ppl motorhomes and think they were only about $15.

I am concerned if I understand what your message says, "a 5300-40 might be paired with a 5300-70."  This seems to be a potential problem waiting to happen.  One side of the bay door would raise / lower at different pressures.  Would this twisting affect harm the door?

I bought all my replacement struts (5300-40, 5300-60 and 5300-80) at Makarios RV.  Just checked pricing on the 5300's.  They are at $8.95.  They've been on the coach about a year and have served me well.

Richard,  Just replaced several lift supports on my doors on my 2000 Marquis.   Engine compartment door is 60 lbs, bay under the drivers seat drivers side is 60 lbs, generator door is 80 lbs, storage door left side next to generator is 60 lbs, wet bay door is 80 lbs.  All doors that I have mentioned and drivers side.   All lift struts and 20 inches center to center while extended.  Bought them on Amazon and grand is Suspa.  Just look for the number 20, means center to center of mounting pockets, and then the resistance in lbs that you are looking for.   Amazon seams to be the cheapest for me
