Coach batteries

Surprised was I when I took the coach to the local Cummins shop to help me puzzle through a loss of house power.  I had new Interstate batteries installed in spring.  Turns out they were old inventory. Cummins guy said Interstate failed to rotate their inventory.  They replaced the batteries at no cost to me and didn't charge me for any shop time they invested in determining the problem.

Thanks for that, Lawrence.  When I go to replace mine before long I reckon I'll have to ferret out a manufacturing date.  Didn't realize it was that much of a concern.  How did they determine the date/age .... a code stamped on the battery?

My 03 Monterey chassis batterys lasted 14 years thanks to the solar panel keeping them topped. The Interstate guy in Wichita,Kansas was surprised as the previous record was 12 years old. He also was generous with a 10 percent discount for veterans. I don't have indoor storage so the solar is always working.

Here is Interstate's system. I think it is fairly common across the industry.

I had Interstate batteries installed by diesel shop in June 2016. They failed in December 2017!  Turns out shop installed one year warrenty batteries!  Had to buy new batteries. Check to make sure you are getting higher rated batteries if purchasing Interstate.
