Slide Creeping Out with Power Off
« on: November 03, 2017, 08:18:04 PM »
I put my 2006 36 ft. 4 slide Monterey in storage earlier this week and switched off the batteries.  I went back a couple of days later and found the drivers side bedroom slide out.  I had left all the slides in when I shut everything down and turned the battery switches off.   I put the slide back in and switched the batteries off again.  I just called to the storage facility and had them check on the coach and they said the same slide is out again.  Does anyone know why this is happening with this slide and only this slide and how to fix the problem??  I suppose I'll have to put a block in place to hold the slide in temporarily.
Thanks,
Joe DeWeese

Joe, Is this slide hydraulic operated? If so I would say that your retract solenoid valve is leaking through and letting the slide creep out. If it is electric I have no clue.

That one slide out of the four is electric rather than hydraulic like the rest, although I understand a few are otherwise;  yours is a similar model to ours, which is electric.  So a leaking solenoid, a common culprit on the other slideouts, should not be suspect here.  Others here have plenty of experience with that particular slide, and I'd speculate from their prior posts that the issue is with the slide's brake.  Gravity is overcoming it.

Until repaired, you probably need to insert a 2X4 brace to keep it in.

Joe, If you have a N/S bed and your closet is the slid. I HAD TO REPLACE the solenoid under the front step. about  $ 200. and well worth it.

Dale, your 40' Montclair was the only one that year with a center rear bed.  Joe's is a 36'.

Thanks for all of the ideas.  I have the slide blocked in for now.  I'll have to check out the slide mechanism to verify it is electric rather than hydraulic and see if there is a brake.

Joe, see if there’s any help in this thread from 2013:

I realize your issue is a bit different, but you may still benefit from the information and insight.
