Removing Splendide W/D
« on: December 02, 2017, 07:01:34 PM »
We would like to remove the W/D from our '05 Monterey and store it until we are ready to sell the coach (or sell it). We've used it once in 18 months, preferring commercial laundrys as we rarely have FH. Any tips, advice or experience on removing it? TIA

Jeff, first take the door off. Then disconnect water and electrical and try to reduce excess water spillage  from your water hoses. Then plan your exit strategy with in the coach. You will need help exiting the coach as the unit weighs over 100 pounds. Always  lift the washer out of its original cabinet by inserting your arms inside the tub while lifting and pulling. We place a large towel on the floor to move the WD .

We just removed ours and installed a stackable w/d unit. It weighed 170lbs. Make sure you wear gloves because the only place to get hold of it (other than inside the drum) after you get it out, is the bottom and the housing is sharp metal edges.

We would sell ours to someone for a low price + shipping.

When we took ours out for repairs, I built a temporary platform that matched the height of the cabinet floor.   Then two people, one on each side, could slide it out gracefully.

How graceful was it getting it out of the coach?  ::)

Did you remove the passenger seat for additional clearance and door access?

Mike, Westland Sales in Clackamas Oregon removed our WD without removing the passenger chair and one guy handled the task. You will need at least 2 people if you tackle the job yourself.
