Leveling Jacks rebuilt
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:56:28 PM »
I just had my IDS SMC front hydraulic jacks rebuilt (remanufactured).  They were leaking badly and left a mess whenever in use. Had the work done at General Hydraulics in St. Louis, MO and it cost $1786.  That included taking them off, cutting them open, honing out the tubes, replacing all seals and each shaft which were badly pitted, and welding them back up. The shafts were replaced with a much durable chrome plated metal.  They tested the jacks, put them back on and ensured they worked properly. Just drove it back home, about 100 miles a couple days ago and so the jury is still out on how well they hold up... but so far looking good. They do this kind of work often for motorhome jacks.  You can find them on the internet and if you call General Hydraulics for information, let them know you found out from Fred Cook on the BCS Forum.
