Patriot Front TV problem
« on: February 01, 2018, 04:31:02 PM »
O7 Patriot Thunder 45' C13 Cat.  Front Drop down TV working fine.  The TV was on and I started the engine.  The TV automatically shuts down when the Ignition is on.  Shut the engine down.  The TV would not come back on with either the Remote or the on/off switch on the TV.  Does not appear to be getting power.  No breaker issues.  Any Ideas?

Bob,
On my 06 PT the TV is powered through a switch box that will kill the power if the key is turned on and back on again when the key is off. One thing you could try is shut off all the power, basically reboot the coach. The controller for my TV is mounted up in the front overhead which you can get at by removing the large trim piece.
I have often thought of taking the TV power out of the controller and hook direct to a source.

I have a troubleshooting manual for the '06. It doesn't say "Patriot" on it, but I'm told this is what was used in the Beaver. Maybe someone else can confirm.

This forum will not let me attach it as it is 491KB and the max allowed is 300KB.

Based on Lee's suggestion I removed the TV power cord from the lift controller.  There was another 110 vac receptacle close by.  Plugged the TV in , works fine.  Just  does not shut off when ignition on.

I reckon commonly found state law should be pointed out here, Florida’s as one example:

“Title XXIII
MOTOR VEHICLES Chapter 316
STATE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL
316.303 Television receivers.--

(1) No motor vehicle operated on the highways of this state shall be equipped with television-type receiving equipment so located that the viewer or screen is visible from the driver's seat.

(2) This section does not prohibit the use of television-type receiving equipment used exclusively for safety or law enforcement purposes, provided such use is approved by the department.

(3) This section does not prohibit the use of an electronic display used in conjunction with a vehicle navigation system.

(4) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318. “

For the sake of legal and insurance responsibility, including at resale whether you ever used the TV while driving or not (the next owner might), I’d just ferret out and repair the faulty lockout switch.  Ours appears to be in one of the junction/outlet boxes behind the fridge;  my assumption is that a 12v switch in there from the ignition shuts down the circuit running up the drivers side to the cap overhead, affecting any device on any outlet along the way.
