12v Fan

Any recommendation on a fan to circulate the air in my coach. Looking just to move the air and not run the AC all night. Wanting one that will not run the batteries down.

George,
There are many options for a fan, but the most popular fan that RVs use for the use that you described is the Endless Breeze by Fantastic Fan. https://www.amazon.com/Fan-Tastic-Vent-01100WH-Endless-Breeze/dp/B0000AY2Z6/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1521753873&sr=8-11&keywords=fantastic+fan+rv

In our coach, there is a 12v receptacle like for a cigarette lighter under the dash on the wall to the right of the accelerator pedal. I have plugged in a 4 way to it, so I can run the TPMS, Garmin, and charge the phone and iPad at the same time.

George,
If you want to use the fan in the bedroom, you have 2 options since there are no cigarette lighter type outlets in the bedroom (there are probably 2 or 3 in the front of the coach and one in the basement), you will have to add one in an out of sight location like under the vanity or in a closet, or convert the fan plug to another type of power plug that is to your liking.

I didn’t want anyone tangling with the cord between the dash outlet and my wife’s 12v blanket at the copilots seat, especially near the stairs.   I found a long corded adapter I think at Camping World that converts 110v to 12v so she can tap instead into a 110 outlet behind along the curbside wall.  That takes advantage of the inverter, probably using no more battery power than if plugged into a cigarette lighter port.

Check Amazon or Camping World’s site.  There’s a $16 one by Cooolbuy on Amazon that’s similar to ours, but they vary in capacity, so check that the output wattage/amps is adequate for your fan.

Joel,
The problem with your solution is that the inverter will have to be left on all night to run the fan. Leaving the inverter on to run the fan more tan doubles the amount of battery power needed to run a 12 volt Fantastic Fan, and that removes the main reason for buying the fan in the first place, its low electrical usage. If you are going to leave the inverter on, you might as well buy a 120 volt fan that will plug in almost anywhere in the coach.

Because of the cord and the outlet issue, along with leaving the inverter on all night long i will purchase a pureflow Q17. It come with a time setting to turn on and off, very quiet, energy efficient design and pushes a large volume of air on adjustable speeds. $99.00.
thanks to all for your input.

We had a Fantastic Breeze.  Our '04 Monterey had a 12v socket under the vanity table in the bedroom.  Maybe the '02 Marquis does too.

I find no spec sheet on that Q17.  It appears to be a 110v, not the 12v you asked about?  It’s description is unclear and mentions a bottom of only 2 Watts.  That’s pretty darn low, ~ only .02 amp!  If operating at a more reasonable speed plus oscillating, I’m sure the amp draw is higher, but I’d still like to see its specs.  Even as a 12v it’d be less than half an amp.

When i get the instruction i will get more info on the fan. Saw it in a store and it had great air flow and very quiet. yes it 110, but given i have to  keep the inverter on , given that i can pug it in anywhere in my coach it seem a great fit. If interested i will keep you informed.
