2006 PatriotThunder dash motor
« on: March 31, 2018, 01:14:16 PM »
Purchased my first MH this January.
It is a 2006 Patriot Thunder.
Need to change the blower motor for the front dash.
Any tips on how to access?
Thanks,
Pete Becker

With no background furnished, it has to be asked - has the motor been diagnosed bad or might the blower speed control resistor unit be bad? Just wondering....

The bearing went out between the fan's motor and squirrel-cage fan.  The thing would run, but we couldn't hear the radio or each other over the squeal.

Peter,
I am not sure where Monaco located the A/C blower motor or motors if you have dual zone A/C, on your model coach. With my 2000 Marquis both motors were easily accessible under the dash by the driver's feet. On my Solitaire, they are accessible under the coach. However, I changer the blower motor on my uncle's Monaco Windsor for him and I had to disassemble the right side of the dash to access it.

Peter,
On my 08 the fan motor is mounted on the right side of the firewall. Open the generator hatch and you should see it up near the windshield. Very accessable.

I went out and looked at my 06 PT, have never looked for the fan motor. By removing the center drawer you can see the fan motor to the right side of the dash, but to remove it I have no clue.
How do the dash panels come out? Can the top of the dash come off?
Somebody in here I'm sure has changed the fan motor or had it done.

I have the same squeal on my motor. (2000 P Thunder) I took the dash pad out, the drawer, and determined that the wood work needs to come apart to replace the motor. I just give it a shot of WD-40 in the little motor vent. I pull out the small rubber hose, give it a squirt, and it lasts a couple months. I know it's not the answer you are looking for, but it's not my preferred answer either!

Thanks for all the replies.
Looks like I will need to remove the wood
under the dash for access.
Thanks,

Peter, you might contact member Joe DeWeese.  He just learned how to disassemble his dash for a loose fan motor connector.  The coaches may have enough dash similarities that he can offer useful tips.

I finally retired and had time to tackle the blower motor.
I needed to remove the wood paneling from under the dash.
There was 2 screws accessable through the middle drawer,
2 screws in front on passenger side accessed from the bottom
of the wood and 2 screws on far right side accessable after removing
   small wood trim in corner.
Will be nice to have heat going from Minnesota to Arizona in December.
