A new Airbag question
« on: May 16, 2018, 03:13:14 AM »
I recently purchased a 1998 Beaver Patriot Savannah with 128000 miles and I have been in the process of going through the systems and updating several of them.  I have the Magnum 8 airbag chassis with what I believe to be the factory airbags which I plan to replace.  I could read one of them and it is a Super Cushion Goodyear 566-22-3-048.  A little internet searching listed replacements as a Goodyear 1R11-166 rolling lobe air bag, or a Firestone W013589295.

My question is are all of the airbags the same part or were different airbags used in different positions?

Can anyone advise of a good source to get replacement airbags?

Any good advise for changing them out?

Thanks for any help, I am trying to take care of all weak links before we actually hit the road for real.  We did drive it over 600 miles from Fla to NC without any problems but I would rather fix everything I can think of at home now instead of on the road later.

These may be useful:
Firestone replacement guide http://firestoneip.com/-/media/www/fsip/files/CommTruckTrailer/Aftermarket/Aftcat_smweb.pdf
Firestone airspring catalog http://firestoneip.com/-/media/www/fsip/files/CommTruckTrailer/Aftermarket/Air%20Spring_%20Replacement_%20Catalog%202016.pdf

I got the best deal on replacements from RS Leaf Spring 800-296-5805 (spoke with Seymour), other reasonably priced suppliers were Stengel 888-433-3149 and SD Truckspring 877-774-6473

Enjoy

Can anyone confirm the ride height as 11 3/4 inches in the rear and 8 3/8 in the front? 1998 Patriot 36 foot.   Marc

Marc,
That is correct. Suggest you access the Coach Assist section in the Private Members Only board. There are a number of air suspension documents in the 1998 99 Beaver Owners Manual section.

Does anyone know or can anyone confirm that the 8 air bags are the same?
