Fuel Water Separator
« on: November 24, 2018, 06:13:02 PM »
I had the primary/water sep. changed to the CAT filter as suggested by Dave A.  I'm starting to think about doing some of my own maintenance and was wondering if the CAT filter 133-5673 is replaced as two parts or only one part retaining the plastic water bowl.  And, if separately, how does the plastic bowl come off?  I'm assuming that you just unscrew it but I hate to assume anything when I am so far out of my experience level.  Thanks in advance.

Jerry, the plastic bowel can come both ways with or with out drain. If you do not have a drain just
Unscrew plastic bowel and clean it would suggest at every service oil change.the filter it’s self
change filter every 3 years. Last note:  Jerry when changing out the secondary 1R-0749 fuel
filter, open the hex bleed bolt on top of filter housing ( loose but not off ) turn over engine it
will start in 3 to 10 sec. shut off engine tighten bleed hex bolt. Dave Atherton Retired Cat Mechanic
