Generator run signal wire
« on: December 02, 2018, 08:35:52 PM »
New owner of beaver,,, so be easy on me ;
Replacing xantrex 2012 w/Rc7gs with magnum 2012 w/ remote and AGS,  I need to run a run signal wire from gen to AGS, the other system didn’t require this signal wire.   Where do I hook in to the generator?
Thank for your help
Ted

Welcome to the BAC forum... We need more information regarding the year and model coach, generator model, and old inverter/charger model.

I would recommend calling Magnum's technical support and ask them.  Generator may need a separate interface module to connect AGS.  It would be a surprise that your model coach does not have it already installed.  Good luck.

Ted, when i made the change to Magnum I had to do the same.  The AGS module was separate from the Magnum as you know.  I had to run a sense wire from where I installed the AGS to the generator.  I installed the sense wire to the hour meter of the generator.  It has worked fine for 3.5 years.  Good luck.

Ted,
This is the wiring diagram that I used to hook up the Magnum AGS on my coach. It might help you.

Had sometime today to do some real looking,  found hr meter wire that comes from Generator to the electrical bay(thank you Boeing for wire labeling)and back up to gen start on dash. ck power with gen running(12v)and 0 when off.  Now to figure out where and how to run wire.
Thanks for your guidance ;D ;D
Also,  I can't find the File that one of the post were talking about to get the wiring diagrams for my coach,   more help greatly appreciated.

It's a .pdf file at the bottom of Gerald's post. You have tohave  Adobe Acrobat Reader (its free) installed on your PC. If you do, click on the link Gerald provided..then click open with Acrobat Reader and it will show on your screen.

As Jerry mentioned, there is a terminal strip in the front Run/Electrical Bay that has a terminal called "GEN HOUR". If you can't find a better place to connect to, that terminal would give you a power signal when the generator is running.

The fourth terminal down from the top on TB2

Richard,

I would be interested in buying your Xantrex 2012 if you still have it.

Thanks
Jason
