Suburban Water Heater Doesn't!!
« on: December 08, 2018, 09:58:31 PM »
Greetings BAC'ers. I have a '96 Monterey 34' which is new to me and recently the water heater has quit heating. When I toggle it 'ON' I hear a thud like sound..a solenoid I'm assuming, but it doesn't light. After a few seconds the red reset light comes on. If I don't toggle off the heater then the circuit breaker (GFCI) will reset and the microwave starts clicking and looses the time. The water heater did work and the water was VERY HOT. Excessively hot! Did something 'pop'? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm 100 miles from anything and want a hot shower!

Henry,

Welcome to the forum!  I see it is your first post.

The Suburban maybe the most common water heater in the RV world.  Nothing in your description triggers a specific flaw.

The Suburban several safety items that all have to connect in sequence for it to work.  My suggestion is to watch some YouTube trouble shooting videos.  Something may turn out obvious.
