Belt part number
« on: December 11, 2018, 04:45:06 PM »
Want to change my serpentine belt on my Cat 3126 in my 1996 Beaver Monterey 30'.  Where can I look this up without taking the old one off?

If you have the engine serial number, you can enter it on the CAT parts website and get a listing of every part used on your engine.

Had the two belts replaced on our 3126B at CAT in St. Augustine in June of 2016.

1 each - 036-6775 VEE Belt;  $15.52

1 each - 4080760   Elite Poly-V Belt; $56.62

Hope this helps...

One of the problems that arises when using Caterpillar as a source for belts is that some coaches have engines (like the last two C 12 engines that I have owned) that were shipped without A/C compressors and/or alternators, and since the C 12 does not need a fan belt to operate, there is no Caterpillar listing for the belt. However, in my case the owners manual list the Magnum part number for the belt that was made to Magnum specs for the application, and since no one has a Magnum cross-reference, I have had to measure the belt to get a replacement.

I did order belts on Amazon after doing a change over to Gates part numbers from cat and Napa belts listed in my chassis filter and belt sheet in the Magnum owners manual. Both were wrong. Local Napa warehouse matched up the belts for me and now I have real part numbers and it cost a lot more.
